Our Youtube channel has dozens of songs (and stories!) that can turn your dining room into a Spanish classroom with just a simple click of a button. One of our favorite videos will teach your child body parts, colors, seasons, animals, and more in Spanish! It is just over 30 minutes of elementary-age-appropriate songs that are comprehensible and engaging.
Looking for a way to extend our YouTube children’s songs for even more Spanish learning fun? Try adding a little activity along with it. If you are wanting to practice colors in Spanish, try watching “Colores, colores.” After each color is sung, ask your child to look around for an item in that color and bring it to the table. Once all the colors are sung, restart the video and hold up the object as its color is sung. This helps enhance their memory and adds movement to the video!
Don’t forget that Calico Spanish is not just great music. Our songs and Video Stories are the foundation of the most comprehensive Spanish curriculum available for kids learning at home. Take a look at this sample lesson on our YouTube channel to see what we mean. Then, try it free yourself. There’s no obligation, and we are betting your kids will love it – and learn a lot of Spanish! Make sure you check out our homeschool page for huge discounts.

Recently, one of our homeschool families reviewed our program on their own YouTube channel. They use our program while they travel the United States in their family RV! Watch the video below to get an insider’s perspective of exactly what we offer.
Pre-service teachers & our YouTube channel
Several years ago, as a pre-service teacher, I was continually instructed to use Spanish songs and videos to “hook” learners into the lesson. Pre-service teachers usually are asked to create their own materials and activities (not use a curriculum) in order to prepare them for a classroom of their own. Our Spanish songs for kids are a great enhancement to any lesson or can even serve as the main component. Below is my own personal experience with a pre-service teacher using a Calico song in their own design practices.
During my preservice training, I was sitting in a methods course, and my classmate was about to teach the class a lesson using differentiation strategies. I knew I was never going to forget this lesson because she used a YouTube Spanish kids’ song about the farm, called “La Granja.” It was incredibly catchy and my cohort and I would all randomly sing it for years to come. (Imagine my surprise when I realized I was working for the song’s creator!) My classmate made magnet cutouts and told a story that went along with the song. As we heard her tell the story, she used TPRS strategies to make it comprehensible. We also drew a farm scene and labeled it with the vocab words that we learned.
The story that day was definitely for more experienced language learners but the song still worked for hooking us into the lesson and for pre-teaching animal vocabulary. This just goes to show that our songs are not strictly for elementary learners and can be used in a wide variety of levels and age groups.
So, preservice teachers and classroom teachers alike: use our YouTube Spanish kids’ songs to meet the varied requirements of your lesson plans!

Our favorites
We’re sure your learners have a favorite, and our team has some, too! Sara-Elizabeth had a blast rewriting the culturally authentic ronda game song “Doña Ana.” Then, our talented musician gave it a country twang and it became a core Level C support song. So Doña Ana is her favorite! The favorite Haylee mentioned above is our “La granja” tune of animal words and sounds. Iuliia is the mastermind behind a lot of our music videos, and she picks “Las estaciones” and “La ropa” as her favorites. Both of those are key songs in Level D of our curriculum.
YouTube is one of our favorite projects and we love hearing how people have used our channels over the years. Got a great idea we didn’t mention here? Let us know in the comments, or tag us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Don’t forget to save our songs on Pinterest, too!
