If you’d like to use the Stories program, we ask for your email address. This allows us to create a unique account for you and then communicate with you regarding how to get the most of our Stories. If you purchase a membership, we will use the email address to send you receipts and essential account information, such as password reset instructions. We will never sell or rent your personal info to third parties.
When you call or write to us with a question or to ask for help, we will create a record of the communication for future reference and follow up. When you email our support desk, we use Zendesk to track your inquiry and to reply to you. When you browse our website, we use analytical tracking services from Google Analytics and HotJar to evaluate how people use our site and what aspects of the site need to be improved to reduce confusion. We also store any information you volunteer, like surveys, for as long as it makes sense.
If you choose to order physical products, we will collect your name, shipping address, billing address, phone number, and email. This data is collected to facilitate sending your purchased items. We use ShippingEasy and Freshbooks to track our physical product sales and your order-related data will be stored inside our secure accounts with these vendors. We use FedEx and USPS to ship orders and will create shipping labels for one of these services using the information you submit at the time of purchase.
If you submit your email to us for access to Stories or to obtain free resources, we will use your email to provide the requested resources. We will add your email to a list on MailChimp so that we can send follow-up information and additional resources from time to time. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link included in any email we send via Mailchimp.
Otherwise, the only time we’ll ever share your information is to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of our Terms of Service, or as otherwise required by law.

Analytical Data Collection:
We make improvements to our website based on analytical usage data. This non-personal data collected via cookies or other methods helps us understand what sections of our site people spend the most time on and what areas seem to be the most useful. We use HotJar to understand how visitors navigate our site and how we can update the site to improve user experience.
Your Rights with Respect to Your Information

This privacy law, GDPR, gives people under its protection certain rights with respect to their personal information collected by us on the Site. Please be aware that if the applicable law requires us to follow your request to delete your information, fulfillment of your request may prevent you from using Calico Spanish services and may result in closing your Stories account.

As part of the services we provide, we may use certain third party processors to process some or all of your personal information. As noted earlier, we use Freshbooks, ShippingEasy, and Zendesk to manage our orders and support desk. We do not accept print orders to non-USA destinations from our online shopping cart. Consequently, orders from the European Union for print products, and the related data needed to ship print products, will be sent via our helpdesk using Zendesk. Such orders will not be processed via ShippingEasy.
Calico Spanish will not provide your data to law enforcement unless a court order says we have to. We have never received a data request nor a court order, and we do not expect to receive such requests in the future. In the event that we do receive a request in the future, be assured that we will reject requests from local and federal law enforcement when they seek data without a court order. We will comply with any court orders.
Security & Encryption
We run our site on a secure server such that every page is rendered as an HTTPS secure page. This means that all data you enter into our site and submit to us is encrypted with SSL/TLS. We store our database and database backups on a secure server.
When you close your account, your email will remain in our database perpetually. If you would like to erase your data, please write to us at [email protected] to request that we erase you completely from our database and records.

This Site is operated in the United States. If you are located in the European Union or elsewhere outside of the United States, please be aware that any information you provide to us will be transferred to the United States. By using our Site, participating in any of our services and/or providing us with your information, you consent to this transfer.
