Step-by-step structure provides easy continuation of language learning
The Calico Spanish curriculum is divided into four levels, beginning with Level A and continuing through Level D. Each level is appropriate for use with children ages 4+, so you can begin your homeschool language learning journey to speak Spanish at any time.
Level A: I am special
Children begin their journey by learning the basics of self-introduction. They learn to ask and answer basic questions about name and age and say something about themselves, including what they are like and what they like to do. They learn to talk about the days of the week, identify things that are blue or yellow, and count items up to three.
Level B: I love my family
Children continue adding building blocks of language as they learn to describe themselves and their family and pets. They begin to talk about other people, including what they are like and what they like to do. They count items up to six; describe things as brown, black, or white; and learn to tell the date.
Level C: I live here
Children develop more language skills focused on activities around their home. They begin to talk about food, games, routines, and describing where something is. They learn to tell time, describe things as red or green, and count items up to twelve.
Level D: Welcome to the farm
Children develop further conversational skills to talk about weather, seasons, and clothing in the context of activities on a farm in Mexico. They can describe things that are orange or pink, identify the number of items up to one hundred, sequence events in a story, and more.

What other homeschool families are saying about Calico...
Everything you need is provided for you from printable posters to daily preparations. There is no need for the parent/teacher to have a Spanish education or background to use this curriculum. With the entire program accessible online anytime anywhere, this is a curriculum that you can revisit in multiple ways over time. I would recommend this program if you are considering adding an elementary Spanish curriculum.

Huge resource section… a very gentle, immersion approach… all of the games and activities reinforce learning… children might enjoy this so much that they want to do Spanish every day! Calico Spanish makes it easy for parents and teachers who do not know Spanish to help children learn the language.

What a great program! Calico Spanish makes learning Spanish lots of fun. With these materials, kids understand and learn Spanish because there is a logical context and pictures. Fabulously usable set of lesson plans, lots of repetition of each of the basic structures, a controlled immersion experience designed so that kids understand what they hear. There is a lot to love!

I used this program for our first year of homeschooling. We homeschooled for second and fifth grade. It is such a wonderful addition to our language curriculum. The girls love watching the videos and listening to the songs. They will play Spanish class with their dolls and their young cousins. I am looking forward to the next level.
Thank you Calico!

My kids love learning Spanish! They often sing the songs that they learn through the curriculum while doing other things, like taking walks or showers (ha!). The continuity of the characters in the videos is really helping them. I’m very happy with the outcome, and pleased that the curriculum continues to build.

Easy to use and based on a very sensible language learning philosophy. It is wonderful to use with young children. The graphics are colorful and engaging and the songs are so well loved by the kids.
